Lead Climbing Course

Lead Climbing Course at Junction Climbing Centre

Discover the full freedom that lead climbing offers on Junction Climbing Centre's massive lead terrain! This six-hour course teaches you the skills needed for sport lead climbing, the most advanced indoor climbing skill.

Eligibility:

  • Participants must be at least 16 years old to lead climb and belay at Junction. Those under 18 must also have written parental approval. Please contact us to discuss.

  • All participants must pass an in-gym pre-test before receiving course dates. This test is on top rope and assesses climbing ability as well as acceptable technique and safety practices. We have testers available most days but it’s recommended to call ahead and confirm that someone is available to test.

Booking:

  • After completing the pre-test, please email the following information to alana@junctionclimbing.com:

    • Yours and your partner's full names. If you don’t have a partner, please identify if you are bringing a Junction-certified lead climber to take a private lesson, or if you require to be matched with another solo signup.

    • Yours and your partner's weights. Weight differences greater than 30 percent are strongly discouraged.

    • Your general availability (weekends, weekday evenings, weekday afternoons)

  • Depending on how far out we are booking, we will confirm the next available date range and/or exact dates and times. Course scheduling is flexible according to yours and our instructors’ availability. The course takes place over two days and full attendance is required.

Course Fees and Equipment:

  • Regular Lessons (with two learners) are $200 per person including HST.

  • Private Lessons (with a single learner) are $265 including HST and you must bring a Junction-certified lead partner.

Participants must provide their own climbing equipment for the course. In addition to your climbing harness and shoes, each pair of learners must bring one Petzl Grigri, a lead climbing rope, and a climbing-rated carabiner to attach the Grigri to your harnesses.
