J2 and Junction Shared Memberships

We've had a lot of questions about Junction and J2 memberships and how they'll work together.

We’ve changed it up to make it easier to enjoy both gyms! To add dual access it will be an additional $20.00 a month for our secondary location

For members who only want to visit our second location:

  • Purchase a day pass each time you visit ($17.00 per visit)

  • Keep your membership going at one site and purchase a 10 pass for the second site

  • Upgrade your membership to include access to both sites

Day Pass, Membership, and 10 Punch Pass prices will be the same at both locations.


Below are several situations that may apply to existing Junction members:

Situation: You're a new or returning member and want to sign up for a single-gym membership.
Let our staff know what kind of membership you'd like and which gym you’d like to use it at. Memberships must be purchased at the location you are intending to climb at.

Situation: You're a new or returning member and want to sign up for a dual-gym membership.
Let our staff know what kind of membership you'd like and which gym you intend to use it at more. That will become your home gym.

Situation: You're currently a Junction member (prepaid or EFT) and want to switch your membership to climb only at J2.
For EFT members you must inform us of the desire to switch in writing, via either email or the membership change request form 3-5 business days before the billing date. The membership will only switch on our billing date (the 10th of the month).
NOTE: For prepaid memberships you are able to transfer your memberships to the other location for $20.00.

Situation: You're currently a Junction punch pass holder and want to switch your remaining punches to climb only at J2.
We now offer the option to transfer your membership/punch pass for $20.00.  This can be as many times as you’d like. Each transfer will be $20.00

Situation: You're currently a Junction prepaid member and want access to both gyms.
Let the staff at either gym know that you would like to upgrade to dual gym access. They will calculate your upgrade cost for the remainder of your membership ($20.00 per month).

Example if there are 4 months of your membership left, the upgraded cost to add the second location would be  $80.00 (4 months x $20.00 per month = $80.00)

 If you are going to be climbing at J2 more than Junction, we'll make it your home gym as well.
NOTE: Prepaid membership upgrades must end at the same time as your home gym's membership. You cannot add temporary dual gym access to a prepaid membership (such as one month of dual gym access to a one-year membership).

Situation: You're currently a Junction EFT member and want access to both gyms.
Let the staff at either gym know you want to upgrade to dual gym access. They will charge you $20.00 for the current month and then update your future billing to reflect both gyms. If you are going to be climbing at J2 more than Junction, we'll make it your home gym .

Situation: You're a Junction 10 Punch Pass holder and want to climb at both gyms.
Punch Passes work a little differently, as punches will only be usable at one gym. You may not use these punches at your non-home gym, however you can instead get Day Passes at your non-punch pass gym for a special rate of $17.00 per visit. To get this rate, you must have punches for the other gym, remaining on your account.


Here are even more answers to potential questions you may have:

Can I buy a membership at one gym and a 10 Punch Pass at the other?
Absolutely, however our system will only let you scan in at your home gym (i.e. the one you have a membership at). To use the punch pass at your non-home gym, you'll need to check in with staff at the front desk.

Can I buy separate 10 Punch Passes at both gyms?
Unfortunately not, however you can instead get Day Passes at your non-punch pass gym for a special rate of $17.00 per visit instead. To get this rate, you must have punches for the other gym remaining on your account.

I am a prepaid member and just made J2 my home gym. Can I switch from J2 back to Junction later?
Yes. To transfer your remaining membership we have a transfer fee of $20.00.

I am an EFT member and just made J2 my home gym. Can I switch from J2 back to Junction later?
Yes you can, however you must inform us of the desire to switch in writing, via either email or the membership change request form 3-5 business days before the billing date. The membership can also only switch on our billing date (the 10th of the month).

I have a child in a Junction program which comes with a membership, can I move this membership to J2 or upgrade to dual gym access?
Yes you can. This is similar to a prepaid membership and can be transferred ($20.00) or upgraded for $20 per month.

I signed up for a Top Rope Belay lesson which comes with a membership, can I move this membership to J2 or upgrade to dual gym access?
Yes you can. This is similar to a prepaid membership and can be transferred ($20.00) or upgraded for $20 per month.

Why does J2 cost the same as Junction when it's a smaller gym?
This is a great question. J2 is a brand new facility, built nearly 10 years after work started at Junction. Construction costs were much higher then than they are now. While we love our new neighborhood, it comes with higher rent than Junction's location on the industrial edge of the Old East Village. If you compare J2's prices to other boulder gyms, you'll see we are similar to many gyms — though, if you do compare our prices, please note that we include taxes in our prices when most other gyms don't. Lastly, we think the bouldering experience offered at J2 is of equal or greater value to the bouldering experience at Junction. We want members to choose the facility that matches their preferences, rather than feel they are choosing a gym they don't want because of its price.
